About Archetype

News from Arcadion Friday, May 23, 2008.

Well, as most of you know, Archetype died back in Early December last year. In case you're not sure what exactly happened, here's the short version...Too many players couldn't wait for people to get home from Thanksgiving break, finals, Christmas break, etc so we could raid more. So they moved on to other guilds, and once one person leaves, others start getting jittery and they start leaving, thus the snowball to our demise was started.

I never harbored any bad feelings for people leaving, you have to do what you had to do. For the most part, it worked out great for many people as we got to see more and more end game content, and get gear. However, I know for myself at least there was one thing that we lost that has impacted me the most. And that's my friends.

I spent SO many hours working for the guild, playing the game, and doing all I could to help us, that many of you I consider my family. More so than my real life friends, family, or even my co-workers who I see for 50hrs a week. Raiding in a big guild I lost a lot of the togetherness I know most of us felt when we raided.  I looked forward to Kara tuesdays, taking 9 of my best friends with me into a dungeon where we could talk, get rewards, feel like we accomplished something even if we D/E'd every drop we had, and most importantly we had fun doing it.

Lately, I haven't felt this in any raid, doing dailies, or anything.  I even came very close to quitting wow, but I love the game too much to do that, and would sorely miss the friends I have made.

Reading over the offical blue posts on changes coming in Wrath of the Lich King, there was one thing I noticed in particular that caught my attention.  I've spent a good deal of time over the last few weeks thinking about this, and I wanted to run my ideas by you, my good friends and get your input.

What Blizzard is doing, is in WotLK, all raids, and I mean ALL raids will have both a 25-man and a 10-man version.  They will be identical raids with the same bosses, encounters, everything, just tuned for a different number of players.  Of course, 25-man will see better loot, but it won't be more than lets say a 120dps sword vs a 130dps sword.  Basically they are making it so you don't have to be as "hardcore" as raids were in the past needing to devote many hours, days, and most you're whole life just to see the end-game.

So what I'm looking to do, is revive Archetype, be it with a new name or whatever, but I want it to be for one thing and one thing only...you, my friends.  I want to get a nice social guild back like we had before, with you and your friends, and together we'll progress through the 10-man version of the game having fun, laughing, and keeping it real.  We'll progress together and yet keep it small like we had back in the day.

This won't happen until closer to WotLK release day, but if you and your friends are interested, please let me know by sending my a in-game mail or /w.  If you have any desire to get things rolling sooner with Kara, ZA (Let's get our bear mounts before the get removed from the game!!) let me know that too.  I'm looking forward to hearing back from you soon!!!  Love you all!!

You're Friend, Arcadion:

~Kenny

Archetype (n): ~The original pattern or model from which all things of the same kind are copied or on which they are based; a model or first form; a prototype

Back when we first revamped the guild so we could move into end game content such as Karazhan and beyond, the surviving members had a goal, and idea, a plan. Many changes have come about since then, and here we are, recreating ourselves once again, in hopes to get back to what the original vision was.

Here we give birth to the Archetype. Many of the veteran members of Archetype are the "Best of the Best" from our old guild, Disciples of Terror. DoT was the top ranked kara farming guild, and now reborn as the Archetype we plan to move on into the real end-game, and all that is coming to us in the future.
